***Hey folks, after a lot of consideration Cynthia and I have decided not to produce the races in 2012. Both of our work schedules have exploded and we don’t feel that we can put the energy into either of the Chicken races that they deserve. We appreciate the support that everyone has given us in recent years and we are not closing the door on future events at all. We look forward to seeing you around and hopefully we will see you at a race sometime. Please check out Trioba, Big Blue Adventure and 4th Dimension for other great adventure races in the NW.***
The Flaming Chicken
12hr Adventure Race
August 20, 2011
Outside of Bend, OR
The Chicken races will be rogaine style again, which means that participants of all levels can successfully participate. Find a friend or two and venture into areas you may otherwise rarely explore in groups of 2, 3 or 4. The ability to navigate using a map and terrain features is the only essential navigation experience necessary. Those with stronger skills will find themselves challenged as well. Solo racers are only permitted to participate if they have previous AR experience and advanced navigation skills.
Become a fan of our Facebook page and receive updates about upcoming races and training sessions!
Participant Responsibility Model
Lay It Out Events and Flaming Chicken AR endorse the Participant Responsibility Model wherein participants take primary responsibility for their own safety. Participants are encouraged to acquire the skills and experience required to safely participate in all of the various activities that can be part of adventure racing. Participants are expected to be aware of their own limitations and exercise good judgment while still challenging themselves. Lay It Out Events will strive to provide participants with adequate information regarding the activities involved in its events, while still retaining as much of the mystery and “adventure” that defines adventure racing.
The Flaming Chicken is an equal opportunity recreation provider under special us permit with the Deschutes National Forest.
