The Flaming Chicken Adventure Race returns!
August 22, 2009
Bend, Oregon
(site last updated:  30 June 2009)

Early Registration Deadline Extended!  Sign up now!

The Flaming Chicken Adventure Race, one of the only adventure races in Oregon (and definitely among the most affordable in the NW), is pleased to announce it's return for 2009!  Join us as we mountain bike up to 25+ miles throughout some spectacular single track and forest service roads in the middle of the Central Oregon Cascades and trek up to 10+ miles among the lava buttes of Central Oregon.  We're working on a possible paddle across some of our magnificent alpine lakes, but we still have some permit issues to work out.

Racers may again choose a 6 or 12 hour option depending on ambition and experience.  Both races will be rogaine style which means that participants of all levels can successfully participate.  Find a friend or two and venture into areas you may otherwise rarely explore in groups of 2, 3 or 4.  The ability to navigate using a map and terrain features is the only essential navigation experience necessary.  Those with stronger skills will find themselves challenged as well.  Solo racers are only permitted to participate if they have previous AR experience and advanced navigation skills.

Feedback from participants last year was that this was one of their favorite races of the season.
So find some friends and sign up soon!

Participant Responsibility Model
Lay It Out Events and Flaming Chicken AR endorse the Participant Responsibility Model wherein participants take primary responsibility for their own safety. Participants are encouraged to acquire the skills and experience required to safely participate in all of the various activities that can be part of adventure racing. Participants are expected to be aware of their own limitations and exercise good judgment while still challenging themselves. Lay It Out Events will strive to provide participants with adequate information regarding the activities involved in its events, while still retaining as much of the mystery and “adventure” that defines adventure racing.
